Announcing the launch of the Norwich Vein Clinic at the Spire Norwich Hospital

Mr Gaunt is pleased to announce an exciting new development at the Spire Norwich Hospital. People with venous problems from Norfolk and the Norwich area can now see Mr Gaunt for consultations and have their treatments at the Spire Norwich Hospital. This is a joint venture with vascular surgeon Mr Jim Clarke and will be known as the Norwich Vein Clinic.

Mr Gaunt says “I am very excited about this new development at the Spire Norwich Hospital. In the past patients from Norwich had to travel to see me at one of my other hospitals but this new arrangement will be much more convenient. Jim Clarke and I have been friends and colleagues for many years and we have come together with the aim of providing patients in the Norwich area with the very latest minimally invasive and local anaesthetic techniques for the treatment of varicose and thread veins”.

For appointments patients can either contact Mr Gaunt’s secretary Debbie on 01223 305858 or via the Spire Norwich Hospital (01603 255614) and ask for appointments and the Norwich Vein Clinic.

Michael Gaunt awarded Master of Arts

I thought you might be interested to know that I was awarded my Master of Arts on 22 January 2011 from Cambridge University.

It was a very proud moment for my family and I and a good start to the year. The picture shows me looking official in academic dress at the awards ceremony – it was a good job it wasn’t raining! See surgeons can smile!

Surgeons can be a barrel of laughs

What a way to recover from all the Christmas Day excesses.

I am referring to the traditional ‘barrel rolling’ race at Grantchester which beat the snow and ice on Boxing Day.

It was fantastic being among more than 1,000 people who took part in the event which dates back to the 1960s.

I have to say it took a lot of concentration and a fair amount of puff but the atmosphere was wonderful.

It was also very successful with my team, Trumpington, winning the inter-village race and crowned county champions.

Naturally, my job is quite intensive and demanding but I try and switch off where I can. Admittedly, this doesn’t always involve something as strange as barrel rolling, but it was great fun and a great way to spend Boxing Day.

It just leaves me to wish you a Happy New Year. May 2011 be a happy, prosperous and successful one for you all.
